LohnStudio

Swiss payroll — entirely on your device

Privacy policy

Last updated: 5 September 2026

LohnStudio calculates payroll under Swiss law — entirely on your own device. There is no server, no user account, no login and no network connection. We as the developer receive none of your data.

In short

LohnStudio collects no data. No servers, no user account, no login, no network connection. No analytics, no statistics, no advertising, no trackers, no crash reports to us. Everything you enter stays in a file inside the app’s folder on your device.

The app sends nothing. It contains no function for transmitting data to us or to third parties. We could not look at your payroll data even if we wanted to.

What data does the app process?

All information comes from you; the app collects nothing on its own. It processes:

Social security number, date of birth, IBAN and salary figures are sensitive personal data. They are used solely to calculate and produce the payslip — never analysed, profiled or passed on.

Where it is stored: in a file inside the app’s protected folder on your device. We recommend protecting the device with a passcode and — on the Mac — with FileVault; that is the most effective protection for this file.

Where does this data go?

Nowhere.

The app opens no internet connection. There is no server of ours, no cloud sync and no interface to third parties. Your data leaves the device only when you hand it over yourself:

What happens to such a file afterwards — e-mail, printer, cloud folder, bank — is entirely up to you. From that moment the privacy terms of the service you chose apply. Please do not send payslips unencrypted to open distribution lists.

Backups

If iCloud Backup (iOS) or Time Machine or another backup (macOS) is enabled on your device, LohnStudio’s data file may be included in that backup. This is a setting of your device, not a feature of the app — the app backs up nothing on its own, and we have no access to such a backup.

A backup is sensible: if the device is lost, so are the payroll records you must keep for ten years as an employer. If you nevertheless do not want it, disable the backup for LohnStudio in your system settings and instead keep your own regular copy in a safe place.

Your rights

Access, rectification, erasure, restriction, objection and data portability always have to be addressed to the party that processes the data. We hold no data from LohnStudio — so there is nothing to request from us, and we could not provide any information even if asked.

You exercise your rights directly in the app, at any time and without us:

Step-by-step instructions are under “Delete data” at the top of this page.

Responsible for the data processing

You, not we, are responsible for your employees’ data. Anyone who runs payroll as an employer is the controller for that personal data within the meaning of the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (revFADP) and — where applicable — the GDPR.

LohnStudio is merely a local tool on your device for that purpose, comparable to a spreadsheet. We are neither a processor nor a recipient of this data, because it never reaches us. A data processing agreement is therefore unnecessary and would have no subject matter.

As the controller you are responsible in particular for:

Responsible for the app itself — its provision, how it works and this policy — is:
