Photo3D Studio turns a folder of photos into a 3D model on your Mac and exports it as USDZ or OBJ.
Frequently asked
How many photos do I need?
Enough to cover the object from all sides with generous overlap between shots. Too few photos, or gaps in coverage, is the most common reason a model comes out incomplete.
What makes a good set of photos?
Even, diffuse light; a sharp, in-focus subject; a fixed exposure; and the object filling most of the frame. Shiny, transparent, or featureless surfaces are the hardest cases for any photogrammetry tool.
Preview or full quality?
Run a preview first — it is much faster and tells you whether the photo set works at all. Only then spend the time on the full model.
Which format should I export?
USDZ opens directly in Quick Look on Mac, iPhone and iPad. OBJ is the safer choice for other 3D software.
The app takes a long time
Building a model is heavy computation. Time depends on the number of photos, the quality level, and your Mac. The preview level exists for exactly this reason.
